Property acquisition process

For such a large project, more space is required than the existing road corridor and a number of properties will be acquired for the project. Properties required for the project are a combination of residential and business premises.

The acquisition process is governed by the Land Acquisition Act 1969.

Demolition works for the Darlington Upgrade Project commenced in August 2015. The works will be undertaken in a staged approach as properties continue to become vacant across the project site, with all works expected to be completed by early/mid 2016.    

The demolition works are being undertaken from Monday to Saturday between 7am and 5pm. Some works may also be required on Sundays between 9am and 5pm, however this will not occur unless absolutely necessary.
